Closest to the Pin Challenges
If the Tournament has a closest to the pin challenge, the first group that goes out should place the markers on the side of the green (out of the way). In order to qualify for a placement in the CP challenge, your ball must come to rest on the green from your tee shot. No mulligans. Since it’s a tournament, there shouldn’t be any mulligans anyway. However, if you hit your ball and it possibly goes out of bounds, but not sure, as usual, you can hit a provisional according to our accepted rules. However, If your provisional ball is the ball the lands on the green, it doesn’t count. You get one shot with your original ball and that’s it. There's NO second best ball.
Once ball lands on green and comes to rest, measure it from the center of the cup to the center of your ball where it came to rest, not where it landed.. Write your name and distance on the marker and leave the marker stake on the location where your ball was. Then leave it for the next group.
If you’re the last group, if you can kindly be sure to take the marker, pens, paper & measuring tape with you and bring it with you and turn it back in to the club at the end of the round so we can review and determine the winner.
GHIN & Handicap
Most of you know how the handicap system works, but in case you’re not sure we will try to explain as simple as possible. If your handicap is 18, we will use the course ratings to adjust your handicap for the course. The harder the course, your handicap may rise to 20. The easier the course, it could lower to a 16. Sometimes your handicap will just stay at 18, it all depends on where we play. To keep your handicap up to date, you will need to post scores of rounds that you have played. It doesn’t matter if you played 9 or 18 holes. There is a GHIN app that you could download on your phone. Once you get your GHIN number, just create a profile on your phone and you’re all set to post scores. It keeps track of your stats and scores, and you can even look up other golfers and see their handicaps. It’s a very simple app to use. The only time you do not post scores will be the tournament rounds. The handicap chairman will post the tournament scores himself for everyone.
Entry Fees & Payouts
Besides the green fees for the course there will be an additional cost of $30. This $30 will be used for
prize money to be paid out to 3 places. So, if we have 10 players the total purse for the tournament
would be $300. The percentages for the 3 places would be $150 (50%) for first place, $90 (30%) for
second and $60 (20%) for third. The percentages will never change but more players mean higher prize
amounts. In case there are any ties between players, we will go to the scorecards to see who recorded
the first birdie. If there are no birdies, we will go hole by hole to see who recorded the first lowest score
on a hole.
